We believe Stilnest can make a small difference. The jewelry industry is flawed in many ways and often intransparent. We want to do better. Our goal for 2021 is to make more information available to you and create a traceable manufacturing flow. We are far from perfect, and we know this will be a multi-year journey. We are committed to giving everyone involved in our jewelry, from the source of the precious metals to our customers, a product that is as ethical and sustainable as possible.

This year we are teaming up with makers from Hamburg, Germany, to challenge the status quo. With the above-mentioned numbers in mind, to us, the last bit matters. The mining of gold has a direct impact on the health of our planet and on the people whose lives – literally – rely on the choices we make. So, how can we help take care of a safer, fairer, and more transparent mining process?

For years we have put our effort and focus on creating jewelry from recycled precious metals. We only use recycled gold, and the majority of silver we source comes from recycled resources as well. We do this because recycling is the most ecological way of creating. But just recycling is not enough. With only one-fifth of gold left to mine, it is inevitable that the entire jewelry industry will have to use recycled precious metals eventually. All gold that is currently being mined will one day (hopefully) become a part of the recycled gold chain.

Mit unserer neuen Fair Bands Kollektion bieten wir erstmals Schmuck aus Fairtrade-Gold, das in certified mines in Süd-Peru gefördert wurde. Alle Schmuckstücke werden auf Bestellung gefertigt und direkt aus der Goldschmiede versendet. Von der Mine zur Kund*in wird dabei jedes Gramm Gold transparent nachverfolgt.
